FAQs
I am configuring my StarLink account to report via TCP/IP to a Sur-Gard receiver. At the StarLink Radio Management Center (NOC) website (www.NapcoNoc.com), the General tab includes the ability to set a "Debounce Time". What is a Debounce Time? Is a Debounce Time required, and if so, what should it be?
With StarLink IP-based reporting, the Debounce Time is a check-in duration (or "heartbeat") used to verify the radio communication link between the NOC and the Sur-Gard receiver. If the time specified in the Debounce Time field is exceeded without the radio's check in signal being received at the central station, the central station will consider the radio communication link non-functional.
The Sur-Guard receiver requires a periodic check-in from the IP-dialer; if the Debounce Time value is set to NONE, the NOC uses a default value of 60 seconds as the heartbeat interval (the NOC website allows the selection of a Debounce Time ranging from 30 seconds to 18 hours). Be aware that some accounts such as UL Listed Burglary or Commercial Fire accounts may require a shorter check-in time compared to Residential Burglary accounts. Ask your central station if they have durations that must be used for specific account types, and that the durations that are set are allowed by the Rate Plans purchased from StarLink. Note: The Debounce Time setting is not the same as the "supervisory heartbeat" between a StarLink radio and the NOC (purchased through a specific plan).
