FAQs
The minimum signal strength required by the Napco StarLink radio installation instructions cannot be met. Is there an external antenna available to increase the signal strength?
Yes, when the minimum signal strength required by the Napco StarLink radio installation instructions cannot be met, an external antenna such as the StarLink model SLE-ANTEXT may be used to increase the signal strength.
Although we recommend using the SLE-ANTEXT, any similar cell phone external antenna may be used without violating the UL Listing of the SLE radio (always keep the length of the coax cable as short as possible to minimize signal loss).
Intended for use with StarLink SLE Series and SLE Fire Series UL Listed communicators, the StarLink SLE-ANTEXT wide-band indoor / outdoor antenna extension provides omnidirectional coverage in cellular frequencies including LTE. The SLE-ANTEXT antenna is connected 30, 50 or 75 feet of double-shielded low-loss coax cable with an SMA (SubMiniature A) male connector adapter included. For mounting on poles up to 2 inches in diameter or for wall mounting, the supplied L bracket and U bolts may be used. Although we recommend using the SLE-ANTEXT, any similar cell phone external antenna may be used without violating the UL Listing of the SLE radio.
The SLE-ANTEXT enhances transmission and reception signals within the 695-3000MHz bands, and is designed to minimize loss and maximize gain (you can likely expect a gain of up to 4-9dB).
IMPORTANT: DO NOT ALTER OR ADD COAXIAL CABLE! DO NOT place antenna within 4 feet of other large metal objects. For outdoor installations, always follow NEC requirements for grounding.
