FAQs
Why does the GEMC-BM/PS need its own battery leads?
The GEMC-BM/PS (Burg Module with Power Supply) provides its own isolated burglary backup battery power and charging circuitry to allow the fire alarm portion to have its own dedicated backup battery supply. This allows the fire alarm panel to run on standby power during a power failure without the additional load of supporting all burglary-related functions and devices; allowing much longer fire alarm standby times. It also greatly simplifies the standby current calculations since the GEMC is not burdened with supporting burglary alarm devices in these calculations; only the fire devices must be supported for the required standby duration.
