FAQs
Is there a wiring and programming method to allow my FACP to use its two telephone connections (primary and secondary) for supervision and central station reporting through the StarLink SLE-MAXVI-FIRE communicator?
Yes, by removing the JP2 shunt and enabling the feature "Tip/Ring Wiring Fault Report", when any communicator trouble is detected, the StarLink communicator will remove voltage from the secondary telephone output, triggering the FACP to locally annunciate the Telco trouble and report the trouble to the central station. Note: Some FACPs require J7 shunt to be removed for Primary Phone line to restore correctly.
The jumper is ONLY to be removed from pins JP2 if you are not able to use the trouble output contacts on your dual path StarLink Fire Communicator.
If the communicator goes into trouble, removing the jumper from JP2 will drop voltage on the secondary line of the StarLink communicator, allowing the control panel to annunciate.
Using this option instead of the trouble output contact eliminates the unnecessary troubleshooting of a fire alarm control panel Line 2 trouble.
