How do I troubleshoot StarLink communicator Telco Line-Cut troubles?
A telco line-cut trouble on a dual path StarLink communicator occurs when the communicator does not detect the expected resistance on one or multiple input zones.
If you observe the StarLink communicator LED labeled D5 blinking 8 times, or if you observe a line-cut trouble upon check-ins or receive a daily trouble notification on an input zone, the communicator might contain a loose or damaged resistor, or a resistor might be missing.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Ensure all four resistors are in place and securely tightened in their correct terminals.
- If a resistor is missing, install a new 10KΩ resistor.
- If all resistors are tightly in place, verify the resistance of each with a meter.
- Ensure inputs are programmed for Supervision/Fire Alarm.
If you are using the communicator inputs, ensure 10KΩ resistors are used. Inputs 2-5 are N/O and require 10KΩ resistance for proper supervision. If the above steps do not alleviate the trouble condition, call NAPCO Technical Support.
