FAQs
Why is my StarLink communicator sending a CID 356 and restore (or YC followed by YK trouble code) to my central station?
If your StarLink communicator is sending a CID 356 and restore (or YC followed by YK trouble code) to your central station, your communicator is not polling within the predetermined poll fail time. This trouble often happens when a StarLink communicator is powered up during activation or powered down when programming is due to be sent.
To fix this polling rate mismatch, perform the following:
- Take a screenshot of the NAPCO NOC (www.NapcoNoc.com) programming screen for reference.
- Click the Advanced tab > Edit > Reboot with default > Save.
- Wait for the communicator to check-in again by actively watching the Check-Ins web page and clicking Refresh every minute or so until the Reboot/Config OK message appears.
- Return to the General web page, click Upload to clear the polling time, then reprogram for the correct polling rate. Remember, if the communicator was programmed for inputs, you must reprogram the communicator as it has been reset to its factory default settings.
When activating and programming a communicator for the first time, always perform the following:
- Activate/register the communicator with ComNet (www.NapcoComNet.com) and wait 15 minutes for the activation process to finish. DO NOT POWER THE COMMUNICATOR DURING THIS TIME.
- Power the communicator and wait for the programming screen to indicate that the device is running properly.
- Program the correct polling rate, then test. Optional: Click Signal Log, checkSupervisory Signals checkbox, then click Search. This will display all supervisory signals.
