FAQs
With my DL5200 double-sided door lock, why does the metal key just spin around in the secondary side key cylinder without unlocking the door?
With double-sided door locks like the model DL5200, the secondary side (i.e. "inside/protected side") lock cylinder will NEVER allow the lock to unlock. This secondary side lock cylinder has one function only: To facilitate the installation and/or removal of the secondary side lever. Note: Even if the secondary side screws and lever were tampered with and removed, the double-sided locks like the DL5200 are intentionally designed to disallow mechanical unlocking from the secondary side of the door.
Important: Because the metal key will never unlock the door from the secondary side, we highly recommend that this lock never be installed on the sole exit door of a room. We recommend that you thoroughly consider all situations (such as panic exit due to fire) before deciding where this double-sided lock is to be installed, and on which side of the door the secondary side of the lock will be mounted.
