FAQs
Must my Alarm Lock DL-Windows V5.5.3 software be installed on my server to allow workstations to connect to my SQL Server instance?
No, there is no need for DL-Windows and SQL to both be installed on the same server.
You can connect to your server database from your workstation provided you are using SQL Authentication. We do recommend installing DL-Windows on your server to ensure you can connect to your database locally (e.g. for testing purposes), but DL-Windows V5.5.3 is not required to be installed on the server. Provided the instance of SQL Server Express is installed on the server correctly, workstations will be able to connect to the database.
