FAQs
When programming my control panel, should I add or remove Call Waiting prefix numbers that appear before my central station telephone number?
A StarLink communicator will quickly and reliably replace the wired telephone service with any control panel capable of Touch-Tone dialing and the ability to report central station data in either Contact ID or 4/2 formats.
Call Waiting prefix numbers (*70 or 1107) dialed before the central station telephone number are used to disable the Call Waiting feature. However, these Call Waiting prefix numbers may interfere with the ability of the StarLink communicator to decode the telephone number (the StarLink communicator is looking for 10 dialed digits only).
Therefore, delete these prefix numbers to allow the StarLink communicator to correctly decode the telephone number dialed by the control panel and allow the system to successfully report to the central station.
