FAQs
I have a StarLink communicator wired to a fire alarm control panel (FACP) without a DACT. How do I wire the supplied wiring harness(es) for the panel's relay trips?
When using a StarLink radio with a fire alarm control panel (FACP) without a DACT, we advise that you use the supplied wiring harness(es) for your panel's relay trips. These harnesses each give you a normally open (N/O) and a normally closed (N/C) input to the radio.
If the FACP only has two relays in the same normal state (two N/O relays or two N/C relays), then you must use both of the supplied harnesses for proper operation.
When an FACP has two relays in the same normal state, you must wire one harness to Input 2 (terminal 7) and one to Input 3 (terminal 8). Once wired, establish which normal state the relays are in, and wire as follows:
- For two N/O Contacts - Wire RED and BLACK of one 9SLE10KHARN to the first N/O contact, then short the RED and BLUE wires together and place a wire nut on them so they cannot open. Perform the same steps for the second 9SLE10KHARN.
- For two N/C Contacts - Wire RED and BLUE of one 9SLE10KHARN to the first N/C contact, then ensure the RED and BLACK wires are NOT shorted by placing a wire nut on both. Perform the same steps for the second 9SLE10KHARN.
