FAQs
What is the best way to upgrade the PCD-Windows Quickloader software?
When upgrading PCD-Windows Quickloader software, you have two choices:
- Install the updated software version on a separate drive (for example, if the original software was installed on your C: drive, install the new version on D:)
--or--
- A "clean install" (recommended). The older version is uninstalled first, then a completely new installation of the software will be performed.
IMPORTANT: We do NOT recommend an "overwrite installation" where the new version is installed "over" the previous version without removing the older version first. This may cause inoperable errors that may hinder access to your existing Accounts.
To perform a "clean installation" of the newer version, proceed as follows:
- Back-up all existing Quickloader Accounts (click File > Export Multiple Accounts) by saving them to a folder or thumb drive that is easily accessible.
- Use the "Add or remove programs" utility in your PC Control Panel to uninstall the old version of Quickloader.
- Go to C:\Program Files\NAPCO Security Group and delete the "PCD for Windows Quickloader" folder.
- Install the updated version of Quickloader by following the setup prompts (run the installation .exe file). Wait for the installation process to complete fully.
- Launch Quickloader and click File > Import Multiple Accounts.
- In the window that appears, open the folder you used to back-up your Quickloader Accounts in step 1. Select your Account files and click OK.
- Type the "Master Password" used for the previous (uninstalled) version of Quickloader. Click OK and your Account files will be available.
