FAQs
What does the Battery Diode Harness do when used with a Magnum Alert MA3000 control panel?
The Battery Diode Harness (BDH) is used in commercial fire or burglary applications when a PS3000 Power Supply Module is not needed, but AC brownout supervision is required. The BDH connects the AUX relay to the on-board PS3000 connector, which activates upon brownout (lowering of AC voltage) or no AC.
The BDH does not contain a diode; it is named the Battery Diode Harness because it bypasses the diode in the MA3000 battery charging circuit, only when there is a brownout or no AC condition to provide output voltage during low battery conditions. This diode bypass occurs when the AUX relay is triggered upon no AC or a brownout condition, and is automatically restored when this power failure condition is likewise restored. The feature "Enable Brownout Limits on AC Fail" must be programmed, and the AUX output may not be used for any other purpose.
