FAQs
Can we take over (transfer) a StarLink communicator if the previous alarm company is out of business or the customer switches security alarm companies?
The only way to transfer a StarLink communicator from one company to another is to perform a device transfer procedure in direct coordination with the NAPCO ComNet department. The previous company wishing to hand-off (release) the device must place a telephone call to the NAPCO ComNet department to start the process.
The number to call is 1-800-645-9445 (press option 1 then option 3 for ComNet) and request a "Transfer Request Form" for a StarLink communicator. A special transfer release form will be sent that must be signed and dated by the principal of both security companies. The request form also must contain the specific MAC address or Radio ID number associated with each communicator to be transferred, including the associated name of the subscriber.
Under no circumstances can NAPCO transfer a device without the express written permission from the company currently in control of the device; if this alarm company is not cooperative, the transfer cannot take place.
Note: This transfer policy and procedure applies to all ComNet devices, including StarLink communicators, iREMOTE-MOD remote control devices, IBR-ZREMOTE Z-Wave controllers, and iSeeVideo and iBridgeVideo security cameras.
