FAQs
I connected a Silicon Labs model CP210x USB to UART Bridge Virtual COM Port (VCP) adapter to my PC. DL-Windows reports "No Loopback Found", although this device appears to be "working properly" as indicated in my Windows Device Manager screen. What should I do?
In some cases, the model CP210x device driver installation can be damaged. In many cases, a full device / driver removal and re-installation may solve the issue.
1. In your Windows PC, open the Control Panel > Device Manager > Ports. Find the Silicon Labs CP210x device, as shown below.
2. Right-click the Silicon Labs CP210x device and select Uninstall.
3. In the Confirm Device Uninstall screen that appears, check the "Delete the driver software for this device" checkbox and click OK. This process will remove the current device driver.
4. Disconnect the CP210x device, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect. Upon reconnection, ensure the device appears in the aforementioned Device Manager under Control Panel > Device Manager > Other devices (see image below).
5. Reinstall the CP210x device drivers under the correct system bit structure, as follows:
- CP210xVCPInstaller_x64.exe is used with 64-bit systems.
- CP210xVCPInstaller_x86.exe is used with 32-bit systems.
6. After reinstalling the drivers, ensure the CP210x device appears in Control Panel > Device Manager > Ports.
7. Retry the Com Port test in DL-Windows; the loop back test should now "pass". If not, telephone NAPCO Technical Service at (800) 645-9440.
