FAQs
Is the NAPCO StarLink NOC capable of forwarding IP alarm format signals that are compatible with existing Sur-Gard central station receivers?
Yes, IP reporting from the NOC to any Central Station equipped with a Sur-Gard receiver is supported. This IP reporting feature may be used with all NAPCO StarLink SLE-GSM, SLE-GSM-3/4G and SLE-CDMA radios, regardless of the firmware version. It simply needs to be enabled in the NAPCO StarLink NOC (www.NapcoNOC.com/) website.
Note: IP reporting is only available for radios connected to control panels reporting through the Contact ID reporting format. IP reporting cannot be used on control panels reporting in 4/2 format. We recommend selecting IP reporting as the Primary path, with Dial Up as the Secondary path.
Benefits of IP reporting:
- Faster reporting: The typical report time from the NOC to the receiver will be reduced to less than a second, compared to the typical dial-up time of 15 to 45 seconds (depending on the format used).
- Dual paths from the NOC to the central station receiver: The NOC allows the programming of IP reporting as the Primary path and dial-up as the Secondary. In the rare event that the primary IP path is not available, the NOC immediately switches over to traditional dial-up to ensure that the report is delivered.
