FAQs
How do I verify my control panel firmware version for models GEM-P3200, GEM-P9600 and GEM-X255 (for panels with firmware V70 and above)?
The Gemini GEM-P3200, GEM-P9600 and GEM-X255 control panels running firmware version V70 and above have a prom chip that can be flashed for firmware upgrades (instead of a chip change). The existing control panel version can be verified by clicking Help > About Current Account, and the current control panel firmware version is displayed. To verify the exact firmware version, proceed as follows:
Note: In the above "About Current Account" popup, some of the characters before and after the panel firmware version should be ignored. For example, the "Panel Software Version" entry reads "GP9600.V70J23/04/02". This should be interpreted as version "70J", and the text "GP9600." and "23/04/02" should be disregarded.
To verify the exact current firmware of a V70 or above control panel, proceed as follows. Note: this can be performed locally or remotely via Telco, TCP/IP or StarLink radio.
1. Download the latest firmware file from our technical library at http://tech.napcosecurity.com/. Save the .hex file to your local PC.
2. In PCD-Windows Quickloader, click Tools > Firmware download. Click Browse, then select the .hex file.
3. Click the Version button, then click Update. Select your communication method.
4. In the Firmware Versions popup (example shown below), for each row listed, verify the current firmware version by comparing each time stamp in the Quickloader software column to the Panel firmware column (ignore the bottom row with the description "Bootloader").
