FAQs
In general, may I run the GEMC Burglary keypad bus wiring, GEMC Fire keypad bus wiring, GEMC-BSLC wiring and GEMC-FSLC wiring all within the same conduit?
The Burglary bus wiring and Fire bus wiring can share the same conduit without adverse effects. Crosstalk (electromagnetic interference from an adjacent wire) is not an issue, as only one bus is polled at a time.
However, sharing SLC loop wiring in the same conduit can result in crosstalk, and is not recommended.
In general, we have found the system to be generally immune to most interference due to their low impedance, although we have not specifically tested immunity between these SLC wire runs.
Hochiki advises that ALL wire runs should be kept separate, but if separate wire runs are not possible, shielded wire should be used (and used within the maximum recommended wire distances as specified within the installation instructions). According to Hochiki:
Keep wiring from different groups separated as much as possible. If you must share the same conduit with different conductor groups consider using shielded cable.
