Why can't I install the outside lever on to my iQue / iQwik cylindrical lockset?

On the standard key-in-lever application, insert the key into the cylinder and turn the cylinder approximately 45 degrees.
If the chassis has been rotated counter-clockwise out of the exterior trim, the door thickness setting may be incorrect, this leaving an insufficient amount of the exterior tube exposed.
In any preparation, an incorrect tailpiece can prevent a lever from being installed. Thus verify the tailpiece selection.
Never install an interchangeable core before the lever has been installed on the tube (doing so would require destructive disassembly of the chassis to repair).
