FAQs
When I connect to my iRemote-MOD, I can only get a blank display. How can I resolve this?
After checking that the iRemote-MOD is configured correctly with the control panel as detailed in the installation instructions, use these troubleshooting tips if necessary:
Q: Is the red LED above the defaults jumper on the iRemote-MOD PC board flashing ON (every 15–20 second interval)?
If the red LED is flashing ON (every 15–20 second interval) there are two possible scenarios:
a. In the keypad configuration of the iRemote-MOD, check your Acct ID and Dealer ID. The Acct ID and Dealer ID should never be altered, but if they were the values must be re-entered correctly to re-establish the iRemote-MOD display. Your Acct ID should always be "FFFFFF", and your Dealer ID should always be "NAP0000". Call Napco Tech Support for help re-entering these values, if needed.
b. Check the MAC Address of the Ethernet port of your device, and ensure it matches the MAC Address associated with the Account. To verify the MAC Address of the account, click My Account (the MAC Address is listed in the blue field under "ID"). If the MAC Address is incorrect, you can replace the unit through activation. Check the installation manual for instructions to add or replace an iRemote-MOD in an Account.
If the red LED is OFF, there are two possible scenarios:
a. The NL-MOD is not connected to the network or is being blocked by the network firewall. When the NL-MOD is connected to the network, the left and right green LED's associated with the Ethernet connection are on solid (left) and flashing (right). If these LED's are off, there is an issue with the network connection between the iRemote-MOD to the network. If all hardware (CAT5 connections, wiring and iRemote-MOD) have been tested and are working correctly, see the IT Department about any possible MAC filtration or other restrictions on the network. Be aware that even when the LED's are solid green (left) and flashing green (right), you can still have a firewall issue. See your IT Department about opening ports 5002 and 5011 outbound. Typical firewalls do not block outgoing communication from these ports, but some firewalls will; in these instances opening these ports is the only solution.
b. If you have already communicated to this iRemote-MOD via the nl-modconfig software, there is a possibility that some necessary defaults were deleted to allow the iRemote-MOD to display on your screen. Clear your iRemote-MOD firmware to the factory default settings (see below) or see the instructions to restore the Napco defaults using the nl-modconfig software.
To default your iRemote-MOD: Remove jumper JP2, remove and replace power to the iRemote-MOD. Wait two (2) minutes, then replace jumper JP2.
