How can "Pass Time" be maximized when using a Narrow Stile DL1225ET, DL1250ET, DL/PDL1325ET or DL/PDL1350ET Series Exit Trim with a Jackson 1095 Panic Bar?
This application involves a Jackson 1095 panic bar installed within the protected premises, and an above referenced Alarm Lock Narrow Stile exit trim device installed outside.
When a User Code is pressed at the keypad, the Alarm Lock exit trim engages a turnpiece (or knob) for the duration of the programmed Pass Time. This turnpiece / knob must be turned by hand to retract the Jackson 1095 latch, to unlock the door. The latch remains retracted until the turnpiece / knob is turned a second time in the opposite direction to extend the latch, re-locking the door. An issue arises when the Pass Time is of an insufficient duration to allow the unlocking and re-locking steps to take place. In other words, because the turnpiece / knob is only engaged for the duration of the Pass Time, the default Pass Time of 3 seconds is usually insufficient to allow the door to be re-locked. The result, in many cases, requires the User to re-enter their User Code to re-engage the turnpiece / knob, to permit the latch to be re-extended, thus allowing the door to be re-locked.
A workaround is to maximize the Pass Time, allowing users extra time to retract the latch, enter the premises and re-extend the latch without the need to re-enter a User Code.
