The plug-in power transformer for my Model 715 Delayed Egress Exit Device was damaged. Can I replace it with another model plug-in transformer?
Yes, but please note: The plug-in power transformer for the Model 715 Delayed Egress Exit Device has an output of 12VAC @ 20VA (Part Number P5090). Should this transformer be damaged, it can be replaced with another plug-in transformer, but only with the same critical output voltage and amperage specifications, as follows:
- Secondary output must be 12VAC 20VA: Higher voltages will permanently damage the unit's logic PC board, and lower VA capacity will not operate the solenoid.
- Class 2 rated transformer: Class 2 transformers are energy-limited, meaning they are designed to reduce risk of fire and electrical shock if a field wire becomes shorted.
- UL Listed: Ensure the third-party unit carries an official UL Listing logo. In a commercial property inspection, an unlisted, unbranded transformer can lead to a fire code violation.
