FAQs
Can the sole-path StarLink communicator that is factory installed inside the FireLink control panel be replaced with a dual path communicator?
Yes. To replace the communicator inside the FireLink control panel:
- Remove the 4 screws holding the StarLink communicator in place
- Remove the antennas from the SIM daughter board (will later be reinstalled on the replacement dual path communicator)
- The supervision Zone 8 wiring (one wire connected to the communicator) must be replaced; connect using a 2-conductor wire with a 2.2K resistor
- On the new communicator, connect the supervision zone to terminals 19 and 20 (relay N/O and COM, respectively)
- On the communicator, jumper J1 must be installed in the top two pins (for a dry relay)
- Connect power to communicator terminals 1 and 2
- The telephone cable must be replaced or an RJ-45 jack added to the existing communicator. If adding an RJ-45 jack, crimp the 2 cables down to the middle two pins #4 and #5 on the RJ-45 jack
