FAQs
Why is the outside lever not opening my newly installed mortise lock?
When installing an Alarm Lock Trilogy mortise lock, spindle orientation is essential. The exterior lever of a mortise lock is connected to a clutch to allow the spindle to spin freely when the lock is in the locked state. When installing the exterior trim, ensure that the word “UP” appears and is likewise positioned "up" on the exterior half of the spindle (see image below). If the spindle is not positioned "up" when installing the exterior trim, the outside lever will not retract the latch. If needed, you can always use the metal key to retract the latch and open the door.
