Does my Prima wireless camera automatically perform periodic status check-ins?
The NAPCO Prima PCAM wireless camera and PWBELL wireless doorbell camera do not perform status check-ins. Although both cameras each contain a 'heartbeat' that is used strictly for supervision to the Prima Super Panel, but the heartbeat does not include health status data.
The absence of status check-ins is intentional to allow for extended battery life (2 - 4 months). If the cameras were continually checking-in for health status, each check-in would cause the camera to wake up from its low-power "sleep" mode, thus drastically reducing battery life.
