FAQs
How do I unlock a NAPCO Fire alarm keypad to allow for remote downloading?
NFPA 72 and UL 864 prohibit remote downloading to a Fire Alarm Control Panel unless a qualified technician is physically at the control panel installation site. To ensure a technician is on site, the Fire system keypad must first be unlocked using a Dealer Keypad Program Code or Master Security Code, as follows:
- At a system keypad, enter the Master Security Code (printed on the sticker inside the panel enclosure) or the Dealer Keypad Program Code and press ENTER.
- Verify the keypad displays KEYPAD UNLOCKED.
- Press MENU repeatedly until the keypad displays ENABLE PROGRAMMING.
- Press YES. Keypad displays E28 SERVICE REQUIRED (this is normal).
- Download the program from PCD-Windows Quickloader software or from the NAPCO NOC cloud software (www.NapcoNOC.com).
Note: When using the PCI-MINI cable that connects the computer laptop running Quickloader directly to the control panel (and therefore the technician is physically 'on site'), the steps above (entering the Master Security Code, etc.) are not required.
