Is the Firewolf FW-2S smoke detector connection to a Fire control panel with the sounder base installed different when the sounder base is not installed?
Yes. The FW-2S 2-Wire Smoke Detectors can be used with UL Listed control panels without using the integral sounder, thus eliminating the need for using the FW-RM1 Reversing Module with NAPCO Gemini control panels or using the GEMC-SDW Schottky Diode with FireLink / GEMC commercial fire control panels.
Wire the fire loop from the initiating loop to the smoke detector bases as shown in the following diagram:
***Important Note*** When not using the sounder base, remove the sounder jumper from all smoke detector heads. Failure to remove the sounder jumper will result in the inability of the control panel to reset correctly.
To remove the sounder base, take the cover off the smoke head and unplug the sounder.
