FAQs
With the Gemini control panel models GEM-P1632, GEM-P1664, GEM-P3200, GEM-P9600, and GEM-X255, can two Areas with a single alarm system share the same entry door zone?
Yes, a zone can share two or more Areas (within the maximum number of Areas available consistent with the control panel model).
However, if an entry/exit door is programmed in both Areas, both Areas must always be armed when arming either Area (or disarmed when disarming either Area).
Example:
A shared storefront has a vestibule door, then two separate entry/exit doors for each of the two businesses.
- An employee from business A leaves at 7:00PM and arms Area 1.
- An employee from business B leaves at 7:30PM and arms Area 2.
When Area 2 is armed and the exit countdown begins, Area 1 will go into alarm if Area 1 is not disarmed during the countdown.
In this example, we recommend creating a third Area and installing a keypad dedicated to the shared vestibule door. Note: This type of system is only available with control panel models that allow for more than two Areas in one system.
