FAQs
What can cause an alert/event not to display when a badge is swiped at a reader?
Summary: There are multiple reasons why an event would fail to display. In the CardAccess 3000 software, verify the following:
1) Is the door unlocking when you swipe the badge? If the door is unlocking, a badge event should display either in the event grid or pending alert grid.
2) Verify the reader is wired correctly.
3)Verify the panel can supply enough current to the reader.
4) You must determine if the badges being swiped are compatible with the reader.
5) Verify if there are any stuck events in the "hostevent" table. The "caDatabaseTask" Service is responsible for moving the alerts from the "hostevent" table to the "event" table. Alerts that go into the "PendingAlerts" do not go through the "hostevent" table. In this scenario, the alerts that enter the pending alerts first, will display in the event grid. Alerts such as "Badge Valids" that are programmed to go to the event table first, can be stuck in the "hostevent" table and will not display in the event grid.
Note: If the reader and the badge were both purchased from Continental Access, then they should be compatible. Please contact Continental Technical support if there is any question with compatibility.
6) Click Administration>Badge Formats. Verify the Badge Format for the badge is listed. By default, there are 5 formats listed in the CardAccess 3000 software. If the reader and the badge were purchased from Continental Access, the badge format should be in this list by default. The absence of the correct Badge Format will prevent the event /alert from displaying.
