FAQs
What are the common causes of false alarms?
A false alarm occurs when an alarm signal is created either by accident or malfunction.
- When created by accident, it is usually something or someone unintentionally tripping a zone when the system is armed.
- When created by malfunction, it is usually caused by a faulty zone device, i.e., a door/window transmitter, a motion sensor, or other intrusion device.
Upon initial examination, check the device to determine if it is faulty. Also check all wiring (if hardwired) for damage. If the device is wireless, check the battery, check its signal strength, and verify that the device is mounted securely (also examine the magnet if a door/window transmitter).
In rare occasions, your EOL resistor may be damaged or the control panel itself is faulty. If you suspect the false alarm is caused by the control panel, contact Technical Support.
