FAQs
I have a fire alarm installation that contains multiple strobes that require synchronization. Does my NAPCO FireLink / GEMC control panel have a protocol that synchronizes System Sensor and Wheelock devices?
Beginning with the 1996 edition of NFPA 72, fire alarm systems that contain more than two strobes in a room or space require synchronization. Since then, all manufactures have produced Horn/Strobes and Strobes that will Synchronize.
The FireLink / GEMC control panel has a protocol to synchronize System Sensor and Wheelock devices. When using these devices, you must program the system as follows for the strobes to synchronize:
In the FireLink Cloud programming website (www.firelinkpro.com), go to NAC / OUTPUT OPTIONS > NAC Assignments, and program any NAC that requires synchronization for SILENCE and SMART:
Then in NAC / OUTPUT OPTIONS > NAC Options, program as follows:
- Check to enable Sync NAC A, B, C and D
- Smart Device Type: Select System Sensor or Wheelock (System Sensor is default)
- Check to enable Horn/Strobe Simultaneous Silence: This will allow the horns and strobes to turn off at the same time (a requirement for NFPA 72 2016 and later)
Note: "Smart" is a NAPCO term for sync-able devices. If you wish to verify with System Sensor or Wheelock, just ask if the module in question is "sync-able" with other devices of that manufacture.
