FAQs
I have a StarLink communicator connected to a control panel without a dialer. I am using the inputs to trip the StarLink communicator to report to an IP receiver at the central station. Will the StarLink Communicator still send a programmed Test Timer?
No. When reporting to an IP receiver at the central station (for example, NAPCO Virtual IP CS Receiver, SurGard or Bosch receivers), the StarLink Communicator will directly send a check-in signal (ping) to the receiver. For example, if a StarLink Fire Communicator with a 60-minute failure time stopped pinging the receiver, the receiver would generate a loss of communication trouble in 60 minutes as opposed to waiting for a 24-hour Test Timer.
Note: We recommend that StarLink Communicators connected to the DACT of a control panel should still have the control panel report a test to ensure the panel is still reporting correctly.
