FAQs
I want to use a StarLink Connect Communicator, an iBridge IBR-ZREMOTE module and other iBridge system components with an older GEM-P816 or GEM-P1632 control panel running firmware version 10D. How do I upgrade this older control panel firmware to V31BA (or higher)?
If you wish to use the iBridge IBR-ZREMOTE module, other iBridge system components or a StarLink Connect Communicator with an older GEM-P816 or GEM-P1632 control panel running firmware version 10D, this older control panel firmware must be upgraded to V31BA (or higher).
First, determine if the control panel firmware is able to be upgraded: The control panel motherboard must be equipped with a 32 pin EPROM socket and the warranty sticker must be dated 02/06 or later (the panel manufactured after November 2005). If the control panel meets the aforementioned requirements, perform the following steps to upgrade the firmware to V31BA (or higher).
- Use PCD-Windows Quickloader to upload the control panel.
- Remove AC and battery power from the control panel and remove the old microchip (we recommend using a chip puller to aid removal).
- Insert the new chip with the notch facing to the left.
- Power the control panel.
- Perform a control panel Cold Start (see the control panel programming manual for instructions)
- Using PCD-Windows Quickloader, make note of the existing Download Code, then change the Download Code to the default 456789.
- Use PCD-Windows Quickloader to set the time and date.
- Change the Download Code back to the original code.
- Press and hold the Shift keyboard key and click the green Local Download icon.
- Download to the control panel: Select User, Dealer, Description, Languages/Messages and Configuration. Note: All keypads that were addressed as EZM must be re-addressed after the download; check all keypads prior to performing the download.
- Test system operation.
