FAQs
What are the different modes for which I can configure a keypad?
There are many types of keypads available, which determine the different modes available. Below are 4 different supported modes.
- "Card and Pin" - You must Enable keypad, and configure a Card&Pin schedule. This requires a card swipe and a pin code to be entered into the keypad. This pin code is a 4 digit code programmed into personnel. The 4 digit pin code can't start with a zero.
- Common Code" - You must Enable Keypad, configure a common code schedule, and a common code. Entering in the 4 digit common code into the keypad, will open the door. NOTE: In this mode, the reader is turned off, and a badge swipe will not work.
- "FFFF mode" - This is a special mode that allows a user to enter his facility code (if used), and badge number into the keypad. This mode is designed in case the user leaves their badge at home. If facility codes are used, you can enter the facility code box number 1-9, and badge number into the keypad (*0934567#) . In this example, the facility code is 9 (you must type *09 into keypad) and badge number 34567#). Note: Facility code box 10 is not supported.
- "Card Only" - This is the default mode with the keypad not enabled. This mode requires only a valid card read, without a keypad entry, to gain access.
Refer to the Continental Document Library for the "Keypad Configuration Guide-REV C" for detailed information on the above keypad modes.
Note: It is recommended to type a "*" in the beginning of all the strings. The "*" clears the buffer.
In most cases, you will be entering in a "#" sign at the end of the string. This "#" sign is used to tell the software, when the last character has been pressed.
