FAQs
Are the NAPCO StarLink Connect communicators compatible with non-NAPCO security alarm control panels? If yes, how would I configure the system to provide arming and disarming functions? How does this affect Z-Wave programming?
The NAPCO StarLink Connect communicators are compatible with virtually any security alarm control panel from any manufacturer.
To provide arming and disarming functions and Z-Wave control, the steps below describe how to program the connected control panel for a keyswitch arming zone, program an active low arming output and to configure the Napco iBridge app. Wire the control panel as shown in the diagram below, then perform the steps that follow.
- Register the StarLink Connect communicator at www.NapcoComNet.com.
- Select the StarLink Connect Advanced plan.
- In the SLE Management screen, click the StarLink Connect tab.
- Set the ALARM PANEL MANUFACTURER to Generic, then click Save Radio Configurations.
- Open the STARLINK RADIO MANAGEMENT CENTER at www.NapcoNoc.com, click the Inputs/Outputs tab, then click Edit.
- Set IN 2 to Armed Status from Panel
- Set PGM2 to Remote Arm/Disarm
- Set the remote arming type radio button to via PGM
- Click Save.
- Open the iBridge app, select the User Settings "gear" icon and select Configure Remote Logins. (The default login is the Radio ID#, and the Password is 1 2 3 4). Set Enable Keyswitch Arming to ON.
- At the iBridge app "home" screen, click Security, then select PRESS TO ARM to arm the system (and select PRESS TO DISARM to disarm).
Note: Limited Z-Wave functions can be used such as manually turning devices on and off, thermostat control and scheduled functions (e.g. turning lights on or off at a certain time). Scenes not involving control panel operations will also operate. However, some control panel-driven events, such as text messaging and controlling room lights when the control panel is armed or disarmed, may not be available.
