FAQs
How can I supervise the keypad communication bus of the Gemini GEM-P3200, GEM-P9600 or the GEM-X255 control panel to ensure that the bus is not compromised?
The keypad communication bus on all NAPCO control panels is fully self-supervised and will locally annunciate a trouble if for any reason a programmed device does not respond to a control panel poll. Devices connected to the keypad communication bus, including keypads, wireless receivers, expansion modules and output modules are all uniquely addressed and respond individually to control panel polls.
If for any reason a device does not respond to a control panel poll within 200 seconds, the control panel will automatically annunciate a local trouble condition and may also be programmed to sound a local alarm / trouble indication or report the polling failure to the central station via POTS line, cellular communicator or via IP communication.
To enable Communication Bus supervision, select the option Bus Failure in the System Reporting and Outputs tab of PCD-Windows Quickloader software. Communication Bus failure may be programmed to report to the central station on Telco 1 or Telco 3 and may be selected to trip any one of the following local control panel outputs: Burglary Output, Fire Output, Reset Output or Aux Output.
