I am prompted to install SQL 2008 Express, but I already have existing instances of SQL installed in my PC. Will allowing this additional installation of SQL 2008 Express overwrite or alter my current programs?
When you install DL-Windows, it creates an entirely different instance of SQL that resides side by side with other existing programs that already use SQL. When the DL-Windows installation process runs, it renames the DL-Windows instance of SQL as 'ALSQLEXPRESS', as shown in the following image:
When you manually install DL-Windows and you are prompted to install SQL 2008 Express, you will be given the option to name this new instance of SQL as well as viewing other existing databases. The SQL Server 2008 Setup screen labeled "Instance Configuration" (shown below) will appear during the SQL 2008 Express installation process:
