FAQs
The total power draw from all connected devices exceeds the power rating of my control panel. How do I install an auxiliary power supply?
It is always important to be mindful of and to calculate the total auxiliary power draw from all connected devices. Overdrawing control panel power can damage the control panel or cause unpredictable troubles and false alarms.
Example:
You install a Gemini GEM-P9600 control panel with:
- 8 Keypads = 100mA each.......................................... 800mA total
- 6 Expandable Zone Modules = 35mA each........... 210mA total
- 4 Motion Detectors = Average 25mA each............. 100mA total
- 3 Glass Break Modules = Average 25mA each..... 75mA total
-----------------------------
1185mA Grand Total
An auxiliary power supply is needed because the total current available from the Gemini GEM-P9600 control panel is 750mA.
Note: In this example, we recommend connecting all EZMs and keypads to the auxiliary power supply, and all motion detectors and glass breaks be connected to the control panel (or optionally, the auxiliary power supply). If the negative terminal from the auxiliary power supply is not connected to the control panel, error codes from all the keypads and EZMs will be triggered (indicating they are "missing").
