If I configure holidays in the CardAccess 3000 or CA4K, do the schedules need to include "HOL"?
This is a very important concept to understand. Configuring this incorrectly can cause doors to open on a holiday (ex. Christmas day), when no employees are in the building.
In almost all cases, schedules used for “Free Access” should NOT include “HOL”. If Holidays are configured in the CardAccess 3000 software, and a schedule used for Free Access includes “HOL” , the door will go into Free Access and open on the holiday.
Schedules used for Access Groups are usually treated differently. In most cases they will contain "HOL" in the schedule. If this is the case, the badge will work on Holidays. You might not want this scenario for all employees, but you would definitely want upper management to have access to the building on holidays. If you would prefer non-management not to have access to the building on holidays, then you would not include "HOL" in the time schedules applied to their access groups.
