FAQs
What are the requirements for configuring the Windows Firewall for the CardAccess 3000 and the CA4K software to function correctly?
On XP Pro and Server 2003, it is recommended to STOP and DISABLE the Windows firewall in “Services”. To disable the Windows firewall, right click "My Computer" and click "Manage". Select Services and Applications and then select "Services". There will be a list of all the services. Towards the bottom of the list, there is a service called "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing". This is the firewall. Right click and select "Properties". It is recommended to stop the Windows Firewall service, and set the startup type to disabled.
Very Important: The above procedure does not apply to newer operating systems (ex. Windows 7 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro, Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012 R2. On these newer operating systems, you MUST keep the firewall started, and configure all inbound and outbound ports to “Allow”. This will open all ports.
