This example explains how to use the FireLink FACP or Gemini C-Series (GEMC) control panels as a slave Digital Alarm Communicator Transmitter (DACT) connected to a 3rd party fire alarm system. This can be done using a GEMC-32 conventional kit as a standalone fire alarm communicator, using a FireLink FACP, or by adding a GEMC-FK1 Fire keypad, a Fire input module and a second commutation path to a GEMC Burg-only application. Note: The Gemini GEMC control panel must be running firmware V84A or later.

For the default FireLink program, download the .ql9 file. Note: The default PCD-Windows Quickloader password is "123".
For additional information, see the FAQ: "How do I import the default FireLink program into PCD-Windows Quickloader download software?"
-----------------------------------------------------
For the default battery calculations of the FireLink fire alarm control panel, use the Gemini C-Series (GEMC) Standby Calculation Worksheet located in our Technical Library website:
http://tech.napcosecurity.com/index.php/techlibrary/docdetails/brand_id/1/doc_id/1110
Select tab 3 GEMC Fire Only.
The "Out of the Box" factory default values are:
- One (1) GEMC-F8ZCPIM Conventional 8 Fire Zone Expander Plug in Module
- One (1) GEMC-FK1 Fire Keypad
- 71ma draw for Standby and Alarm in the Mother Board AUX PWR, with a QTY of 1 for the integrated StarLink communicator.
The Total Required Standby Battery Capacity for the "Out of the Box" draw is 8.3AH.
Note: Two sets of series 8AH or 7AH batteries are required for every FireLink installation. Other powered devices must be added to the Calculation Worksheet, i.e. smoke detectors, horn/strobes, bells, remote annunciators, etc.

Syncing NAC Devices on the FireLink Cloud Site.
Beginning with the 1996 edition of NFPA 72, fire alarm systems that contain more than two strobes in a room or space require synchronization. Since then, all manufactures have produced Horn/Strobes and Strobes that will Synchronize.
The FireLink / GEMC control panel has a protocol to synchronize System Sensor and Wheelock devices. When using these devices, you must program the system as described in this Tech Tip for the strobes to synchronize.

Reporting code E300 area 00 Z1 A00 is a common FireLink or GEMC control panel Point ID reporting code that some central stations may mistakenly confuse with a Z1 trouble.
In actuality, E300 area 00 Z1 A00 is a 24-hour Trouble Resound code that will report to the central station every 24 hours (with the keypad beeping and its Trouble icon flashing) until the condition is corrected. A Zone trouble would be an E373 conventional or an 380 SLC point trouble (for example, E373 Z1 A01 is a Z1 trouble).
Control Panel DACTS are required to send detailed information regarding the reported condition (a 'generic' trouble is insufficient). For example, E = Alarm, R = Restore. Be aware that there are more events than possible event codes; some events have a point # that will report as a zone. For example, a Z300 Z1 A00 is a 24 Hour Trouble Resound; an E300 Z00 A00 is a Fire Bus Failure.
See this Tech Tip for a list of reporting codes for the GEMC / FireLink control panels. Note: Burg codes are not applicable for FireLink.
