FAQs
What communication type should I use with my fire alarm control panel (FACP) and StarLink communicator?
When programming your FACP communications settings, remember that the StarLink communicator acts as a POTS line (Note: POTS stands for "plain old telephone service", but is also sometimes referred to as PSTN or "public switched telephone network").
If your control panel has selections for different communication types (e.g., IP, cellular and POTS), we recommend that you select POTS. Also remember that the StarLink communicator will NOT operate using rotary dialing; be sure to use DTMF / Touch-Tone ONLY (Note: DTMF stands for "dual tone multi-frequency" and refers to the sounds or tones generated by a Touch-Tone telephone when the number keys are pressed).
