How do I upgrade my existing DL Windows V5.5.3 to Microsoft SQL Express 2019?
For Existing / Upgrade Installations Only!
The steps below are ONLY to be used if you have an EXISTING installation of DL-Windows V5.5.3 in your computer. Do NOT perform these steps if you are installing DL-Windows software for the first time.
For new installations, click here.
-----------------------------------------------
For Existing / Upgrade Installations:
1. Launch your existing DL-Windows V5.5.3 software and back up your existing database and all Account File(s) by clicking Tools > Backup Database. (If you have more than one account, export each *.acc account individually by clicking Tools > Export Account).
2. Go to the official Microsoft website and download the latest version of SQL Express 2019.

3. Right-click the SQL Express 2019 *.exe file and select Run as Administrator.
4. Select Basic. (Note: If you are using DL-Windows in a Server / Workstation environment, you MUST select Custom and perform the complete installation process. Under Authentication Mode, you must enable Mixed Mode authentication and set up a password).
5. Select Accept > Install.
6. Take note of the new Database Instance Name that your system created, then select Close.
7. Click Start > All Programs > DL-Windows 5. Open the DL-Windows Database Configuration Utility and select the newly created database instance name from the previous step using the "Server Name" pull-down.
8. Select Setup/Connect Server Database > Next.
9. Click Next, then select Finish.
10. Launch DL-Windows V5.5.3 software and log in. Note: The password is blank by default.
11. Select Tools > Import Account.
12. Select the *.acc file(s) exported in step 1. Note: Be patient; this process could take between 5 and 15 minutes, depending on the amount of data being imported.
Verify that all of your data is visible using the latest SQL Server Express 2019. Note: We recommend backing up your SQL Server database (select Tools > Backup Database).
