FAQs
Do I need to connect the StarLink Connect radios to an Internet connection in order for the iBridge-associated functions to operate?
No, a LAN connection is NOT required for the iBridge functions to operate. All radio functions will operate over the cellular connection. The LAN connection is used for reporting alarm signals to the NAPCO NOC, thus the StarLink Connect radio supports dual-path reporting. In addition, with any StarLink Connect radio with firmware version 32.1.66/26.3 or higher, the IP connection can be used for local app connectivity.
When mounting the StarLink Connect radio, it is preferable that the radio be mounted in a location with a strong cellular signal, rather than selecting a mounting location that simplifies the running of a wired network connection. However, if you are forced to mount the radio in a particular location in order to increase the cellular signal strength, but are then unable to wire a LAN connection, you can install the SLE-WIFI-MODULE to allow the radio to connect to the customer's router through Wi-Fi, thus enabling IP reporting.
